SAN ANTONIO – The UHV softball team bounced back to win an elimination game against No. 11 Texas A&M-Texarkana 2-0 on Friday at Our Lady of the Lake University.
It's UHV's third ranked win of the year.
The win came after the Jaguars (27-17) dropped a 10-3 result to top-seeded OLLU in their first game today.
UHV will face Louisiana Christian at 10 a.m. Saturday at OLLU in another elimination game.
Cameron Cowan got the start in both games. The junior from Shiner pitched a complete game against the Eagles (32-10) in which she allowed three hits for her ninth shutout of the season and 15th of her career.
Cowan scored the first run on a TAMUT error in the third after a ground ball by Allison Snedeker.
Lauren Caka added an RBI to score VeJeigh Zamora after another error by the Eagles.
UHV fell behind 6-0 after the first two innings against the Saints.
Claire Blinka hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to halve OLLU's lead at the time.
The winner of tomorrow's elimination game will face the loser of the OLLU-Texas A&M-San Antonio game at 3 p.m. for a spot in Sunday's championship game.
