Comeback bid falls short in loss at OLLU

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Jarvis Christian men's soccer team scored three goals in the second half, but that wasn't enough as the Bulldogs fell to Our Lady of the Lake, 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs drop to 4-6-2 on the season with a 1-5-1 mark in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Saints earned their second win of the season as they improve to 2-8-3 overall and 2-4-2 in conference.

Johan Arevalo booted in two goals in the contest to extend his scoring streak to five games. This is the second time in that span where has scored two goals in a game. Arevalo is currently the conference leader in goals scored this season with 11. He has 24 points so far, which tied for the most in the RRAC. He also has taken 36 shots this season, which ranks first in the conference.

The Saints held a 2-0 advantage at the half as Kevin Rios and Cristian Govea Mireles scored in the first half.

Coming out of the break, Arevalo answered with back-to-back goals in the 47th and 55th minutes to tie the match, 2-2.

Javier Pena answered as he found the goal in the 65th minute. Michael Huff then scored in the 69th minute as the Saints stormed back to take a 4-2 lead.

Alex Alatorre came through with a late goal in the 87th minute to trim the OLLU lead to 4-3. That marked Alatorre's first goal of the season.

The Saints outshot the Bulldogs, 21-19 in the match. Arevalo led the team with four shots and three shots on goal. Alatorre had three shots and two shots on goal. Diego Anzaldua also had four shots and three shots on goal.

Jahir Arevalo got the start at the goalie position. He allowed four goals and recorded six saves through 90 minutes.
