Our Lady of the Lake Cruises In 5-0 Victory
Dallas, Texas – October 5, 2024 – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) displayed a commanding performance with a 5-0 win over Paul Quinn College on Saturday. The victory solidified OLLU’s control on the field, as they dominated in both attack and possession, leaving Paul Quinn without a response throughout the match.
First-Half Dominance
From the outset, OLLU set the tone, outshooting Paul Quinn 17 to 1 in the first half. Sara Garza broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, netting the game's first goal with a perfectly placed shot off an assist from Lyndee Rheinberger. Garza's strike from inside the box was the beginning of what would be an offensive onslaught from the Saints.
Paul Quinn struggled to find any rhythm, with their only first-half shot on goal coming from midfielder Simara Barton. Despite the lack of offensive production, goalkeeper Fernanda Rosas kept Paul Quinn in the game with multiple saves, recording a total of 15 by the match's end.
Second-Half Surge
The second half saw OLLU continue their dominance, with Lyndee Rheinberger doubling the lead in the 53rd minute. Rheinberger received a sharp pass from Emerson Weiler and slotted the ball past Rosas to put the Saints up 2-0.
OLLU's relentless attack didn't stop there. Just six minutes later, Gabrielle Pace added a third goal, again assisted by Rheinberger. Paul Quinn had no answers for OLLU's speed and precision on the ball, and their defensive structure crumbled as the game wore on.
In the 77th minute, Vivianna Gutierrez made it 4-0 with a clean finish after a well-timed pass from Leah Tapia. The Saints sealed their victory with one final goal in the 87th minute, as Shante Chacon buried the fifth and final goal with an assist from Allison Kostoch, wrapping up an emphatic performance.
Key Performers
Lyndee Rheinberger was the standout for OLLU, contributing to three of the five goals with one goal and two assists. Her creativity and vision in midfield constantly threatened Paul Quinn's defense. Gabrielle Pace and Sara Garza also had strong games, each recording a goal.
OLLU's defensive unit, led by London Suarez, had little to do but remained solid throughout. Suarez did not face any shots on target, marking a quiet yet effective performance in goal.
For Paul Quinn, Fernanda Rosas was by far the busiest player, making 15 saves despite conceding five goals. Simara Barton and Dulce Valdez managed to create some offense but were unable to convert their chances into goals.
