SWEDES DROP GAME 2 OF SERIES 9-4.

SWEDES DROP GAME 2 OF SERIES 9-4.

San Antonio, Tex. - In game 2 of the Friday doubleheader, the Swedes would take the lead late in the game but give it right back to lose 9-4 against Our Lady of the Lake University.

Our Lady of the Lake University opened up scoring in the first inning capitalizing on an error made out in the outfield to get runners in scoring position. The run came via a sacrifice fly to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.

The game would remain 1-0 until the top of the 4th inning when the Swedes bats started to wake up. The inning started with a Luis Ramos single to left field, followed by a Randy Good double. David Espinal would draw a walk that would bring freshman Connor Crayton to the plate with the bases loaded. Down 0-2 in the count, the true freshman got a fastball up in the zone that he demolished to left-center for a grand slam. That is the 2nd time Crayton has left the yard in just two series.

Our Lady of the Lake would keep chipping away as they followed that big 4th inning by the Swedes to go ahead and score in the last three innings. In the bottom of the 4th the Saints would score two to bring the score to 4-3 with the Swedes still leading. In the bottom of the 5th they would tie the game at 4-4 and then would take the lead in the 6th when they broke the game open scoring 5 runs in the inning. That would be all they would need as they held the Swedes in the top half of the 7th inning to win by a final socre of 9-4.

Mauricio Hernandez started the game for the Swedes. The righthander went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking zero. Edwardo Vasquez took the loss for the Swedes. Vasquez lasted one-third of an inning, allowing two hits and five runs while striking out one.

Offensively the Swedes would tally 7 hits from Willard Frizzell, Noel Perez, Randy Good, Emanuel Alicea, Connor Crayton, Luis Ramos, and Joseph Rivera each managing one hit for the Swedes.
