Lady Eagles Drop 1-0 Pitching Duel With No. 9 OLLU
BRANSON, Mo. (3/6/25) – The Williams Baptist University softball team fell 1-0 to No. 9 Our Lady of the Lakes after dominant pitching outings from both sides on Thursday afternoon in the first game of the Branson Grand Slam Classic in Branson, Mo.
Emberlin Caldwell threw all seven innings in the circle for the Lady Eagles. Caldwell allowed only one earned run with four strikeouts and no walks.
Kaylee Wolfe, Ashlyn Michael, and Madyson Busselle had the only hits for WBU in the contest.
Caldwell held the Saints scoreless through six innings until a two out single brought home the game's only run in the top of the seventh.
Williams failed to respond in the bottom of the seventh to fall 1-0.
The loss drops WBU to 7-4 overall on the season. The Lady Eagles will return to the diamond on Friday, Mar. 7 for a doubleheader against Culver-Stockton and Friends. First pitch against Culver-Stockton is set for 9:15 a.m., and first pitch against Friends is set for 11:15 a.m. from Branson, Mo.
