Pilots Basketball Defeats the Saints in Hundred Point Bout

San Antonio, Texas —In a high-scoring showdown, the Pilot men's basketball team emerged victorious against the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake with a final score of 108-99. With the win the Pilots move to a conference record of 3-0 and 8-0 overall.

 The Pilots wasted no time, establishing an early lead that they maintained throughout the first half, entering halftime with a commanding 56-41 advantage.

The first-half stats reflected the Pilots' offensive prowess, shooting 19-37 from the field, connecting on 6 three-pointers, and making an impressive 12-14 free throws. Meanwhile, the Saints struggled to keep pace, going 14-33 from the field, hitting 4 three-pointers, and converting 9 of 14 free throws.

Although the Saints mounted a comeback effort in the second half, outscoring the Pilots 58-52, the initial lead proved insurmountable, and the Pilots secured the win at 108-99. Notably, seven Pilots contributed double-digit points, with Damon Davis and Calvin Carpenter leading the charge. Davis shot efficiently at 6-8 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line, totaling 17 points. Carpenter closely followed with 16 points, going 5-9 from the field with one three-pointer and 5-6 made free throws.

Paul King and Melvion Flanagan also made significant contributions with 14 and 13 points, respectively. King went 3-9 from the field and an impressive 8-10 at the free-throw line, while Flanagan shot 3-6 from the field, including three three-pointers, and 4-5 from the free-throw line. Jordan DeCuir tallied 12 points, Tahj Roots had 11, and James Ellis rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. Jalen King showcased his rebounding prowess, leading the Pilots with 12 rebounds in this thrilling victory.

The Pilots will be back to action Saturday December 16th as they face the Rams of Huston-Tillotson. Tip-off is set for 11:00am CT from Austin, Texas.
