SWEDES SPLIT DAY ONE OF SAINTS FOUR SEASONS CLASSIC

San Antonio, TX. - The Bethany College Swedes Softball team traveled down to San Antonio, Texas for their season opener of the 2023 season. Swedes dropped the first game of the day against Our Lady of the Lakes University 6-11. Bethany then turned around and beat Texas A&M University of San Antonio 9-6. 

 

The Swedes collected eight hits and OLLU had nine in the high-scoring affair. OLLU scored four runs in the third inning. Bethany responded and tallied four runs in the fourth inning with a single by Emma Gray, a home run by Lilliana Martinez, and a groundout RBI by Marissa Riley

 

Cambree Aguirre was in the pitcher's circle for the Swedes. Aguirre allowed five hits and six runs over three innings, striking out three and walking zero. Dara Muller threw three innings out of the bullpen.

 

Martinez went yard for opposite home run in the fourth inning, making it her first of the season. Allison Rosa led the Swedes with two hits in four at bats.

 

Bethany College Swedes beat Texas A&M University of San Antonio in a high-scoring game, 9-6.The Swedes opened up by scoring three runs in the first inning. Sasha Martello hit a base clearing double, scoring three runners.

 

Martello led things off in the pitcher's circle for the Swedes. Martello surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out four and walking zero.

 

Bethany racked up 13 hits. Marissa Riley, Amaris Guerra, Emma Gray, and Martello all managed multiple hits for the Swedes. Riley went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Bethany Swedes in hits.

Day two of the Saints Four Seasons Classic continues Saturday, February 10th. The Swedes will play the first game of the day at 10:45 AM against Texas A&M University at San Antonio. Game two will be against Our Lady of the Lake University with first pitch scheduled for 3:15 PM.
