Thomas' Late Goal Lifts the Pilots Past the Saints

San Antonio, Texas-- In their conference season opener the LSU Shreveport Pilot Men's soccer team emerged victorious over the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake, sealing their fate with a narrow 1-0 win. With the win the Pilots jump to an early 1-0 start in conference and an overall record of 3-2-1.

From the very first whistle, the Pilots established their dominance by relentlessly vying for possession of the ball. The first half showcased their offensive prowess, as they fired five shot attempts at the Saints' goal, while their rock-solid defense allowed the Saints only two attempts. Despite their valiant efforts, the first half ended in a scoreless deadlock, setting the stage for an intense second half.

Undeterred and hungry for victory, the Pilots came charging out in the second half. They unleashed a barrage of twelve shots on the Saints' goal, leaving the opposition with limited opportunities; the Saints managing to muster just three shots. The defining moment arrived in the 83rd minute when Jack Thomas, the Pilots' talisman, found the back of the net, securing the crucial goal that would propel his team to triumph.

Not to be overlooked, Kyle McLeish, the Pilots' steadfast goalkeeper, exhibited exceptional skill and determination throughout the match, making four crucial saves. His stellar performance culminated in a clean sheet, safeguarding the Pilot's lead and ensuring their first conference win of the season.

The Pilots will be back in action Saturday September 16th as they take on the Jaguars of Texas A&M San Antonio. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm from San Antonio, Texas.
