Armijo Collects First Career OLLU Win as Saints Take Two From OPSU

San Antonio, Texas- Our Lady of the Lake opened their season with a strong performance against Oklahoma Panhandle State. In Game One, OLLU Softball defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State 9–1 behind a balanced offensive attack and dominant pitching. The Saints jumped ahead early and never looked back, scoring nine runs on ten hits while taking advantage of Aggie defensive miscues.

Marisa Rosales set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a stolen base. Boston Tijernia had a standout game, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Novalee Gloria continued the extra-base production with a double and a triple, scoring twice and driving in a run. Caitlin Casas added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs as OLLU consistently applied pressure throughout the lineup.

In the circle, Annika Litterio delivered a composed and efficient outing. She worked five innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out eight and issuing no walks. Despite Oklahoma Panhandle State's aggressive baserunning, Litterio limited damage and controlled the pace of the game as the Saints secured the opening victory.

The momentum carried into Game Two as Our Lady of the Lake completed the sweep with an 8–2 win. The Saints once again capitalized on timely hitting and strong pitching to pull away from the Aggies.

Marisa Rosales continued her productive day, scoring three runs and driving in one. Lilly Rocha provided the key offensive moment with a three-run home run, finishing with three RBIs. Boston Tijernia added two hits and an RBI, while Yezenia Perez and Brianna Ramirez each contributed run-producing at-bats. OLLU also created pressure on the bases, forcing defensive errors that led to additional scoring opportunities.

Valeria Vielma anchored the Saints in the circle, throwing a complete game. She allowed two runs on seven hits, walked two, and struck out six over seven innings. Vielma remained steady throughout the contest, shutting down any potential Aggie rallies and closing out the game efficiently.

With the two victories, Our Lady of the Lake showcased depth, discipline, and consistency in all phases, earning a convincing doubleheader sweep over Oklahoma Panhandle State. The next regular season contest for the Saints will be against Division II opponent Sul Ross State on February 7th at 12:00 PM CDT at home.
