Pilots Overwhelm OLLU in 71-45 Victory

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's basketball team delivered an impressive performance on Thursday night, defeating Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) 71-45 in a decisive road win.

The Pilots showcased their depth and defensive prowess, led by a standout effort from Paula Gonzalez Herrero, who posted 16 points, four steals, three assists, and two rebounds. Helena Galunic followed closely with a well-rounded game, contributing 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Vicky Parra added 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks to further bolster LSUS' dominance.

Erynn Williams and Alexis Brown anchored the defensive effort with six rebounds apiece, with Williams tallying six steals and Brown adding four of her own. The Pilots' relentless defense forced turnovers and limited the Saints to just 26.7 percent shooting from the field.

LSUS shot 44.1 percent from the field, capitalizing on their offensive opportunities, while connecting on 26.3 percent of their three-point attempts and 50 percent from the free-throw line.

Despite the loss, OLLU's Julia Plata shined with a game-high 23 points and four steals. Carlea Owens controlled the boards for the Saints with 13 rebounds. OLLU struggled offensively, shooting 26.7 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 59.1 percent from the stripe.

The Pilots will return to action on Saturday, December 21, at 1 p.m. when they face Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
