Eagles' win streak snapped in five-set thriller against OLLU

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A&M-Texarkana went back and forth with Our Lady of the Lake all night Friday in a battle of two teams tied for first in the Red River Athletic Conference, but the hosts emerged victorious in an epic five-set thriller.

OLLU (10-8 overall, 7-0 RRAC) got the upper hand with scores of 25-16, 20-25, 25-22, 29-27, and 15-11, but the Eagles (15-6, 6-1) have a chance to even the score tomorrow when the teams face off again at noon.

The Saints put an end to the Eagles' 10-game win streak and – for at least one day – took control of the top spot in the conference standings.

Alanna Deering led the Eagles with 13 kills, Zuleica Cruz posted a double-double with 22 assists and 14 digs, and Madison Arrieta had a team-high 19 digs. Kimberlee Joyce added 16 assists and Katherine Toftemark had five blocks.

Ja'Kerra Holt boosted the Eagle attack with nine kills, Aerin Muijs and Mia Mata each had eight, Ashley Phares added seven, and Toftemark had six.
