GREENSBORO, N.C. – (July 25, 2024) - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has announced that Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) is one of the select few, among the more than 800 member college and high school programs from across the country, to have been awarded the 2023-2024 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which Sports Attack presents. This year’s award, a mark of exceptional academic achievement, recognized nearly 350 high school programs and more than 470 collegiate programs.

SAN ANTONIO (July 23, 2024) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has announced the promotion of Byriq “BJ” Alzaid from part-time assistant coach to full-time assistant coach for the men’s basketball program. Men's basketball at OLLU, known for its competitive spirit, has seen significant growth under the leadership of former assistant coach and now head coach Marcus Thompson. Alzaid, who joined the coaching staff six years ago, will now play a pivotal role in guiding the team to further success.

The Saints compete in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) along with Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA), Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT), LSU-Shreveport (LSUS), LSU-Alexandria (LSUA), Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMUSA), Louisiana Christian University (LCU), University of the Southwest (USW), University of Houston-Victoria (UHV), Jarvis Christian University (JCU), North American University (NAU), Huston-Tillotson University (HTU), Paul Quinn College (PQC) and Texas College (TC).

LEXINGTON, KY. (July 18, 2024) — On Wednesday, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that the 2023-2024 Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Volleyball Team has earned the prestigious AVCA Team Academic Award this season.  This award, initiated in the 1992–1993 academic year, is a significant honor that recognizes volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. The Saints earned the award for the first time in program history in 2022-2023, and their continued success in the classroom and on the court is a testament to their dedication and hard work.

SPECIAL FEATURE (July 9, 2024) - People who watch him in concert would never imagine that he used to be a college soccer player; people who used to watch him play soccer never thought he would soon become a rock star. That’s the story of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) alumnus José Gómez, who played for the Saints soccer team from 2013-2016. At 29 years old, Gómez is the oldest of four siblings – Mayra Gómez, 26; Jonathan Gómez, 24; Shi Lo Gómez, 21; and Michael Gómez, 16. He cites graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology as his biggest accomplishment. “Being the first to graduate in my family created a path for my siblings to follow. I’m very proud of all the hard work and sacrifices [I made].”

SAN ANTONIO (July 5, 2024) - Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) congratulates 208 student-athletes who have earned Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Scholar-Athlete recognition – the most than any other school in the conference and the most in OLLU history. An RRAC member since 2008, OLLU also led the RRAC with 208 student-athletes (18 were dual sport athletes), adding 16 who were on non-RRAC sanctioned cheer, dance and drumline teams for a total of 224 student-athletes earning a 3.0-grade point average or better last year. The 224 total marks the most student-athletes in school history to earn scholar-athlete recognition. The cumulative GPA total for OLLU's student-athletes was 3.20.
