Eagles finish sweep of OLLU, win seventh in eight games

A&M-Texarkana put up seven runs in the third inning of Monday's series finale against Our Lady of the Lake and used that to finish off a three-game series sweep of the Saints with a 9-2 win at Dobson Field. The Eagles improved to 13-13 overall and 10-5 in RRAC play, having won seven of their last eight.

TAMUT recorded just four hits but a wild third inning saw the Eagles take advantage of three wild pitches and a passed ball to score the first three runs, then add more with a two-run single by Gabe Baker, an RBI by Antonio Ramazzino, and another run driven in by Freddie Madera. The Eagles scored seven runs on three hits.

In the eighth, Marcus Tidwell walked with the bases full to score Baker, then Luke Hyzdu scored on a wild pitch to add the final run. OLLU miscues enabled the Eagles to overcome striking out 14 times in the game.

Gage Mason (1-3) earned his first win of the season, throwing six innings of shutout ball with four strikeouts, four walks and just two hits. Blake Taylor earned the save with 2.2 innings of relief, surrendering four hits, two earned runs and striking out two.

The Eagles take an extended break from conference play with five straight games against non-conference opponents. TAMUT will host Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) on Wednesday evening at 6 pm, then host Tabor (Ks.) for a three-game series Friday and Saturday before wrapping up the non-conference week at Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 26.
