No. 14 Eagles Complete Sweep of Saints Saturday Afternoon

San Antonio, Texas - No. 14 Central Methodist Baseball completed a sweep over Our Lady of the Lake Saturday afternoon, winning games three and four of the series by scores of 1-0 and 19-2 in San Antonio, Texas. 

Game three featured another pitcher's duel, as newcomer Alan West tossed a complete game shut out, giving up only two hits and one walk. He also tallied 13 strikeouts to earn his first win as an Eagle. 

After three complete scoreless innings, Central got on the board in the top of the fourth. Following a ground out double play, Jeremy Conforti singled through the left side to give CMU a runner on first base. 

Tommaso Giarola then tripled to left field to score Conforti, giving CMU the lone run of the ball game. 

Altogether, the Eagles strung together seven hits, led by Terry Toliver Jr. and Logan Doody who recorded two hits apiece. 

The series finale was an offensive onslaught, the Eagles scored runs in the second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to come away with a 19-2 win. 

Overall, 10 different Eagles recorded at least one hit. Khalil Thrasher led the way batting four-of-five including two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI. 

Joey Fitzgerald Jr. batted two-for-two with a pair of doubles and three runners driven in. Bobby NicholsJoseph Weatherford, Robbie Merced, West, Conforti, and Giarola all recorded multi hit games.

Clayton Burke pitched five complete innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits. He also struck out four batters. Alexander Billo and Joshua Tucker came in relief and each threw one scoreless inning through the final two frames. 

Central will next compete in the highly competitive Cajun Collision beginning Thursday, Feb. 9 in Sterlington, La.
