Game 1
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Pilots Baseball kept their undefeated season going with a dominant doubleheader sweep over Our Lady of the Lake University on Saturday afternoon, securing a 4-0 win in Game 1 and an 8-3 victory in Game 2 to complete the three-game series sweep. The Pilots now sit at a perfect 14-0 overall and 3-0 in Red River Athletic Conference play.
Game 1: Pilots Shut Out Saints Behind Zeigler's Dominant Outing
Draven Zeigler was nearly unhittable for LSUS, striking out 11 across six shutout innings while allowing just two hits and one walk. His dominance on the mound set the tone for the Pilots, who methodically built their lead en route to a 4-0 win in a seven-inning contest.
Diego Aragon got LSUS on the board in the fifth with a solo homer to left-center. In the sixth, Ryan Davenport was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home another run. The Pilots capitalized on more OLLU miscues in the seventh, as Ian Montz and Josh Gibson each drew RBI free passes to extend the lead to 4-0.
Zeigler's efforts were backed by solid defense and timely offense, with Aragon, Davenport, and Jose Sallorin each recording hits. For OLLU, Joshua Milton and Brett Atkinson each tallied a hit.
Game 2: Power Surge Propels Pilots to Series Sweep
The Pilots' bats came alive in the second game of the doubleheader, launching three home runs en route to an 8-3 victory. Josh Gibson led the charge, finishing 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs, and a solo homer in the ninth.
Ian Montz got things started early, launching a two-run shot in the second inning. Angel Rodriguez followed with a two-run homer of his own in the fifth, and Austin Gomm put the game out of reach with a two-run double in the seventh.
On the mound, Cobe Reeves (2-0) delivered a strong outing, striking out nine over six innings while allowing just one run on five hits. Domenic Martinez (0-3) took the loss for OLLU, surrendering five runs on eight hits, including two homers, in six innings of work.
Drew Saucedo led the Saints with three hits and an RBI, while Joshua Milton added two hits and an RBI. OLLU tried to rally late, but LSUS slammed the door to complete the sweep.
