Women's Soccer Suffers Third Straight Loss at the Hands of OLLU

San Antonio, Texas—In a closely contested soccer match, the LSU Shreveport Women's Soccer team faced off against the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake and came up short, losing 2-0. With the loss the Pilots fall to 0-1 in conference and send their overall record down to 2-3.

The Saints wasted no time making their presence felt on the field, scoring their first goal in the 12th minute. It was a rather unfortunate turn of events for the Pilots as a clearance attempt inadvertently ricocheted off a Saints forward, finding its way into the back of the Pilot's goal. This early setback put the Pilots at a disadvantage, but they were determined to turn the tide.

As the first half progressed, LSU Shreveport launched an impressive offensive effort, outshooting the Saints 8-2 in an attempt to level the score. Despite their relentless pursuit of a goal, they were unable to break through the Saints' defense, and the first half concluded with the Pilots trailing by just one goal.

Coming into the second half, the Pilots remained focused and determined to mount a comeback. Just two minutes into the half, they seemed to have found the equalizer; however, their hopes were dashed as the referee called the goal back, leaving the Pilots frustrated but undeterred.

The Saints, not content to rest on their laurels, increased their lead in the 59th minute. A well-executed play saw an unmarked player rise above the defense, heading the ball into the back of the Pilots' net. This second goal further extended the Saints' lead and made the Pilots' task even more challenging.

Despite the scoreline, both teams continued to battle fiercely, creating exciting moments on the field. In the second half, they were evenly matched, with each team taking one corner and registering seven shots, showcasing their determination to control the game.

Ultimately, the final whistle blew, and the Lady Pilots found themselves on the wrong side of a 2-0 scoreline against the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake.

The Pilots will be back in action Saturday September 16th as they take on the Jaguars of Texas A&M San Antonio. Kick off is set for 1:00pm from San Antonio, Texas.
