Bellevue, Neb. - The No. 18 Central Methodist Volleyball program split its opening pair of matches at the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic Friday in Bellevue, Neb. 

Central began the day with a three-set sweep over (RV) Our Lady of the Lake (25-14, 25-9, 25-15), before falling in a back-and-forth battle to No. 13 Bellevue (17-25, 25-18, 27-29, 17-25). 

In the opener, Central outscored the Saints by double-digits in each of the three sets played. 

Senior Callie Henson led the CMU offense with 14 kills on 22 swings. In addition, the native of Jefferson City finished the afternoon with four block assists. Morgan LeBlanc added seven kills, followed by Sydney Healy with six. 

The duo of Gabi Owczarek and Ryleigh McBurney each dished out double-digit assists with 22 and 17 respectively. Krystal Brauner led all players with 17 digs. 

Central turned its attention to No. 13 and host school Bellevue University in the evening match. CMU found themselves down early, dropping the first set 25-17. 

The Eagles responded nicely with a convincing victory in set two, 25-18. Even at 1-1, the third set would be extended to nearly 30 points, with both sides exchanging the lead on a number of occasions. The Bruins ultimately won the bout 29-27 to take a 2-1 lead. 

Central would run out of gas in the fourth, as Bellevue cruised to a 25-17 victory to seal a 3-1 match victory. 

Both Delaney Miller and Callie Henson reached double-digit kills with 11 and 10 respectively. Annabelle Maassen nearly earned a double-double with nine kills and 17 digs. Owczarek added recorded 20 assists, followed by McBurney with 17. 

The Eagles will close the tournament with a pair of matches against Dickinson State (N.D.) and Loyola (La.) on Saturday.
