Bio
Austin Childress brings a well-rounded background in collegiate athletics, shaped by his experience as a student-athlete, coach, and nationally recognized sports information professional. He is currently in his first year as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations and External Affairs at Our Lady of the Lake University.
A native of Kentucky, Childress was a multi-sport athlete at Hopkins County Central High School and is a proud inductee of the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame.
He went on to compete in cross country and track at Lindsey Wilson College and Bethel University. After his collegiate running career, Childress served as an assistant coach for the cross country and track programs at Bethel for two years. He later worked as a graduate assistant under the athletic director before being promoted to Assistant Sports Information Director, a position he held for four years.
Following his time at Bethel, he served as the Sports Information Director at Texas A&M International University for over a year, gaining further experience in athletic communications and external relations.
Childress is a multi-award-winning SID in the NAIA, recognized nationally for his excellence in media relations, statistical reporting, and storytelling in collegiate athletics.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Education.
