Bio

TARA ALEXANDER joined the athletic training staff in July 2023.

Alexander comes to OLLU from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), where she participated in the UIW Athletic Training Clinical Education Program from 2021-2023. She observed orthopedic surgery, skin condition treatment during the wrestling season and student teaching at MacArthur High School in spring 2023. In fall 2022 at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Alexander had weekly team physician shadow opportunities, applied functional movement patterns into rehab programs and Subjective Objective Assessment Plan (SOAP) notes and documentation. At Clark High School in spring 2022, she gained independent experience with evaluations, modality use and return-to-play programs. For UIW football in fall 2021, Alexander had experience with heat illness (cool zones, rhabdomyolysis, etc.) and with first aid.

As Assistant Athletic Trainer at OLLU, Alexander assists in providing immediate assessment and treatment of injuries and ailments for 18 intercollegiate teams. She helps in rehabilitation, conditioning and injury prevention plans and maintains accurate medical documentation per privacy guidelines. 

The San Antonio native received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from UIW. Alexander has the following certifications: National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (BOC), State of Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer certification, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certified/instructor.
