Saints' Offense Totals 12 Hits in Victory Against Ottawa

SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 8, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) baseball team totaled seven runs in a win against Ottawa University (OU) on Wednesday. The Saints jump to 2-6 overall while the Braves drop to 3-2.

Basics

The Saints offense came to life against Ottawa on Wednesday afternoon. The Braves took an early 2-0 lead after scoring one run in the first and second innings. The Saints cut the deficit to one run in the bottom of the second inning when Christian Martinez doubled to bring in Vincent Banda. D'Artagnan Perez-Padron followed with a single that brought in Martinez to tie the contest. Ottawa added another run in the third inning on a balk, but the Saints would even the score yet again in the following inning. Banda continued his hot hitting by scoring Jackson Kalisky on a sacrifice fly.

The Braves scored again on a balk to take a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. The Saints would respond in the bottom of the frame when Jacob Montejano singled to score Jimmy Valle. The Saints added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead 7-4. The Braves scored one run in the eight inning but it wasn't enough as the Saints held on for their second win of the season. The Saints used nine pitchers that totaled 11 strikeouts.
