JV Baseball Completes Season With Games Against Texas Post Grad
SAN ANTONIO (April 26, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) JV baseball team lost a pair of games against Texas Post Grad (TPG) to finish the 2023 season with a 6-6 record. Both games were seven innings and the Saints lost 8-2 and 9-4.
Game one
The Saints totaled three hits in the first game of the doubleheader. Vincent Banda had two singles and Will Eudy also singled. Banda and Eudy scored the two runs for OLLU. Donovan Gamez started on the mound for the Saints and went two innings with two strikeouts. Jorge Lozano, Christian Rodriguez and Matthew Sanchez pitched in relief. The Saints lost 8-2 heading into the second game of the series.
Game two
OLLU scored more runs in the second contest, but TPG plated nine runs to win. The Saints went down 3-0 in the first inning but battled back to tie the game two innings later. Louis Morales hit an inside the park home run in the bottom of the first inning. Jayson Cantu and Aydan Lopez scored the following two runs in the next frame to even the contest. TPG went ahead by one run in the third inning, but the Saints tied the game again. Aiden Gonzalez scored the tying run after reaching earlier on a walk. TPG scored the final five runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Chase Roberts started game two for the Saints and pitched two innings. Christian Rodriguez, Johnmichael Martinez, Eudy and Roman Rodriguez pitched in relief.
