SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Four errors prove costly for the Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) baseball team last night as they took on Westside foe, St. Mary's University. The loss drops the Saints' overall record to 6-13 on the season.  

How it Happened

  • Two OLLU errors in the top of the first inning allowed the Rattlers to score the game's first run.
  • In the top of the fourth, Vincent Banda led off the inning with a single to left center. Christian Martinez was hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and second with one out. The Saints would strand both runners in the inning.
  • After a leadoff walk and an error by the Saints, the Rattlers produced a run on an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead through six innings.
  • A two-out error in the seventh extended the inning and allowed St. Mary's to plate a run in the inning to up their lead to 3-0.
  • Three runs on four hits for StMU in the bottom of the eighth sealed the 6-0 victory.

Notables

  • Martinez finished the night going 2-for-3 at the plate.
  • Matthew Sanchez tossed three innings in relief and allowed just one run on one hit while striking out four.

Up Next

  • The Saints will resume Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) action on Friday as they travel to Tyler, Texas to take on Texas College in a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
