OLLU Spirit Competed at the Battle in the Big Easy

NEW ORLEANS (Feb. 3, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) competitive cheer and dance teams competed in the Battle in the Big Easy on Thursday and Friday. Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) hosted the event which included 11 other teams.

Thursday, Feb. 1

The competitive cheer and dance teams started competition on Thursday. The dance team performed in two dual and triangular competitions. They took first place by defeating Keiser University (KU) with a score of 68.93 to Keiser's 59.50. The squad performed roughly 30 minutes later and placed third amongst Ave Maria University (AMU) and Loyola University New Orleans (LUNO). OLLU totaled 70.77 points while AMU won with 78.70.

Cheer also competed twice on Thursday. They placed second against KU and Langston University with a score of 51.30. OLLU battled head-to-head against Florida Memorial University (FMU) to close their competitions on the first day. FMU finished with 84.98 points to OLLU's 49.63.

Friday, Feb. 2

Dance closed their performances with two events on Friday. They placed third in the opening multiple team competition. They scored 71.27 among five other teams, which included LUNO, KU, Missouri Baptist University, University of the Cumberlands (UC) and AMU. OLLU battled AMU and UC to close competition and finished in second place at 50.80.

The cheer team placed ninth with 49.67 to start Friday's events. XULA, MBU, FMU, LU, LUNO, Williams Baptist, Simpson and KU finished ahead of the Saints. The squad took second place with 50.80 points against LUNO and KU in the last competition.
