Bio

CRYSTAL BROCK joined the Our Lady of the Lake University coaching staff as head coach for the competitive cheer and dance teams in April 2020. This year, Brock has initiated and currently coaches OLLU Saints first Drumline under the Athletic Spirit Program.

Brock is a native of Cedar Park, Texas. She received her Master of Education in Educational Leadership/Administration from Concordia University – Austin and her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Texas State University where she was a member of the World-Famous Texas State Strutters, a Diamond Sweetheart for the nationally ranked Bobcat Baseball Team and a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, Inc.

Prior to OLLU, Brock was a Fine Arts Dance Educator, Dance Team Director and Communications Applications Educator at Brennan High School in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio and earned the 2019-2020 Northside Independent School District Above and Beyond Outstanding High School Dance Educator Award.

Prior to Brennan, Brock directed the dance, cheer and pep squad teams at West Campus/South San Antonio High School and taught for Elite Dance Company in San Antonio.

Brock is a member of the National Dance Coaches Association, Texas Dance Educators Association and has been part of the Dance/Drill Team Directors of America, Inc. She is certified as a Five-Star Cheerleading Coach from the Universal Cheerleading Association. She is a notable Showmakers of America, Crowd Pleasers Dance and Leander’s Winter Dance Classic Competition Adjudicator.

In addition, Brock has extensive experience in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, high-kick, contemporary, modern, lyrical, open, novelty, field and African dance, as well as stunting, tumbling, jumps, muscle building and conditioning. She has choreographed, produced and directed performances for a variety of professional groups, school events and community programs. Crystal trained with the Austin Ballet Company in Austin, Texas and the Broadway Dance Center in New York.

Brock has earned numerous awards and recognition for her high school and college teams performances and academic achievements. She currently holds national titles under Marching Auxiliary and Crowd Pleasers. In her inaugural competitive season at Our Lady of the Lake University, she earned the university’s first NCA and NDA National bids and placed second in NAIA Dance Team Performance. OLLU also took home third place at the American Collegiate Championship and is the current two-time Champion for the Dance Team Union Virtual Collegiate Championship. Now in her 19-year serving as a Fine Arts Dance and Spirit educator for Texas, Brock is enjoying her time working with the OLLU Athletics Spirit Programs and sharing her coaching and performance experiences with others around the state and country.

Most recently, Coach Brock was selected as the Head Choreographer for her first feature film starring Luis Fonsi, Vannessa Vasquez, Jackie Cruz, and Vivian Lamolli, just to name a few. “The Answer to My Prayers” was written by Nancy De Los Santos-Reza, directed by Patrick Perez Vidauri, and produced by Christina Nava and Edward James Olmos, all best known for the movie, “Selena.”
