Four From Men's Basketball Named NAIA Scholar-Athletes
KANSAS CITY, MO. (March 20, 2024) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2024 Daktronics NAIA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athletes on Wednesday. Selected from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) are Daniel Helterhoff, Kyonte Holder, Paul Minjoth and Xavier Purnell.
The 2024 list features 572 student-athletes (up 30 from 2023) that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
The four marks the most men's basketball student-athletes to earn this honor in a season in program history. Previous honors include Alex Tomic – 2011, Christian Wood-Dvorak – 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, Brandell Collins – 2016-2017 and Georges Darwiche – 2022-2023.
Daniel Helterhoff and Paul Minjoth both earned a 4.0. Kyonte Holder marked a 3.97 and Xavier Purnell earned a 3.66.
