OLLU Men's Golf Finishes Play at Waco River Classic

WACO, TEXAS (Sept. 21, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team finished in ninth place out of 11 teams after three rounds of play at the Waco River Classic. The tournament ran from Sept. 19-20 at Bear Ridge Golf Club.

Head Coach Arnie Martinez commented, "This tournament was tough. We struggled a bit more than usual with distance control and lag putting. The course could get demanding off the tee box, so we had an uphill battle for most of the first day. I'm proud on how the team responded on the second day. They played with more confidence and made better decisions. We have some time between now and our next tournament. We know what we must work on and I'm confident we will be ready to go by the next event. Go Saints!"

New Mexico JC took first place with a total of 288/284/266=858. Midland College finished in second place at 293/290/282=865, followed by McLennan CC at 292/292/288=872, Western Texas CC at 288/299/288=875, University of Houston-Victoria at 298/283/301=882, Tyler Junior College at 301/301/289=891, Weatherford College at 303/293/296=892 and Texas A&M University-San Antonio at 298/293/305=896. OLLU took ninth place at 301/305/298=904, followed by Blinn College at 304/303/302=909 and Jacksonville CC at 343/335/333=1011.

Diego Garcia Hernandez led the Saints in 21st place with a total of 68/77/74=219. Massimo Garcia followed in 34th place at 75/76/72=223. Oliver Gaisford took the 36th spot at 76/76/72=224, followed by Sergio Garcia in 77th place at 82/76/80=238 and Joshua Brook in 92nd place at 87/81/87=255.
