Men's Golf Places Third in Victoria Classic

VICTORIA, TEXAS (Oct. 18, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team finished in third place in the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) Fall Classic.

Head Coach Arnie Martinez commented, "It was a tough go of it out here in Victoria. We had to deal with a lot of rain and high winds. The guys did a good job of grinding througn the elements on round one. We lost some stream in the second round and came up short in the end. Our goal is to fine tune the things we're struggling with at the moment and improve. The off-season is crucial in how successful we'll be in the spring. Our plan is to work hard and start the spring semester in a great way! Go, Saints!"

Winning the tournament was UHV (897), followed by Weatherford College (913). Texas A&M University-San Antonio (932) followed OLLU (931), and Louisiana Christian University (940), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (947) and UHV B (956) teams follow.

Oliver Gaisford led the way for the Saints in a three-way tie for eighth place. He shot a 72-79-78/229. Joshua Brook and Sergio Garcia tied for 11th place. Brook shot a 76-81-73/230 and Garcia shot a 77-77-76/230. Randy Soliz shot a 77-82-77/236 for a four-way tie for 20th place. Diego Garcia Hernandez (80-76-86) and Massimo Garcia (80-82-80/242) tied for 30th place. Matthew Cantu shot a 88-87-75/250 and Trey Salinas shot a 90-78-83/251.

The Saints will get set for their spring season that begins in January 2023.
