Saints Men's Golf Finishes 10th at DB Classic in Denton
DENTON, TEXAS (April 4, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team concluded the DBU Men's Classic sponsored by Dallas Baptist University (DBU) today and finished in 10th place. The tournament is taking place at the Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch.
Head Coach Arnie Martinez commented, "We learned a lot from this event. Wild Horse Country Club was a great test of golf. The wind was blowing steady the whole event and forced us to adjust. We did a lot of things right this week, but we also know what we need to improve on. Our goal is to be in peak form for our conference tournament, and we're excited for the opportunity. Go, Saints!"
The winner was DBU at 854, followed by the University of Texas at Tyler at 873, DBU (B) at 875, Mississippi College at 879, Southern Arkansas University at 880, St. Mary's University and the University of Houston at Victoria at 882, the University of Texas at Dallas at 883, Southeast Oklahoma State University at 892, OLLU at 895, East Texas Baptist University at 900, Fort Hays State University at 901, Missouri Southern State University at 902, Lubbock Christian University at 914 and the University of Arkansas-Monticello at 915.
Leading the way for the Saints was Oliver Gaisford with a three-round 72/76/74=222 for a tie for 27th place. Diego Garcia Hernandez had a three-round 73/78/74=225 for a tie for 37th place. Sergio Garcia shot a three-round 77/74/76=227 and Massimo Garcia shot a 76/74/77=227 for a tie for 48th place. Victor Peña Cortés shot a three-round 71/84/77=232.

The Saints will get set for the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament that will be hosted at the University of Houston-Victoria May 17-18.
