Saints Men's Golf Takes Second Place at the Bohmann Tournament

SEGUIN, TEXAS (Sept. 12, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team finished in second place at the Texas Lutheran University (TLU) John Bohmann Memorial Intercollegiate Tournament today. 

Head Coach Arnie Martinez commented, "I couldn't be prouder of our men. They had a solid first showing. The team played well as a unit, missing first by two strokes. Ollie and Victor have been playing good and it was great to see them place second and fifth in this event. We still have a lot of work to do, but I know the guys are up for it. We have some time until our next event, and we'll be working. Go, Saints!"

The Saints totaled 851 points for second place behind Southwestern University, which finished with 848 points. Trinity University came in third with 858 points, followed by the University of St. Thomas with 873, Schreiner University with 875 and Belhaven University and Texas Lutheran University with 897 points.

Oliver Gaisford led the way for the Saints with a 207 (72-68-67), the best score tied with Jacob Mason from Trinity University. However, Mason won the shootout, so Gaisford took second place. Victor Peña shot 68-72-70 for 210 and fifth place. Sergio Garcia shot 72-70-74=216. Both Alx Marshall (72-72-78) and Ethan Aleman (72-76-74) tallied a score of 222.

The Saints will participate next in the University of Houston-Victoria Fall Invitational Oct. 16-17 in Victoria, Texas.
