Men's Golf Concludes Claud Jacobs Invitational in Sixth Place

VICTORIA, TEXAS (Feb. 28, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's golf team took sixth place out of nine teams in the Claud Jacobs Collegiate Invitational. The three-round event was sponsored by the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas.

Head Coach Arnie Martinez said, "Victoria Country Club served as a great test for the team. The greens were fast, and the winds were up. Congrats to Oliver Gaisford on his individual finish. There are some things we did well and things we struggled with. The key to our success will be addressing our weaknesses moving forward. Go Saints."

Texas Wesleyan University (A team) led the way with a total of 868. The University of Houston-Victoria took second place at 878, followed by Texas Wesleyan University (B team) at 884, St. Thomas University at 886 and Southwestern Christian University at 902. OLLU concluded the tournament in sixth place at 909, followed by Rocky Mountain College at 914, Texas A&M University-San Antonio at 918 and Louisiana Christian University at 956.

Oliver Gaisford led the Saints tied for 11th place at 75/74/73=222. Massimo Garcia took 23rd place at 78/75/75=228, followed by Victor Peña Cortes  in 31st place at 77/80/75=232. Jake Casias and Sergio Garcia tied for 36th place. Casias went 76/79/80=235 and Garcia totaled 74/78/83=235. Ethan Aleman finished in 44th place at 82/82/75=239, followed by Alex Marshall in 48th place at 86/73/86=245 and Matthew Cantu in 52nd place at 82/86/82=250.
