
Men's Golf Opens Spring at San Antonio Shootout
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) men's golf team opened their 2025 spring season as the San Antonio Shootout, hosted by Schreiner University at TPC San Antonio. With 36 holes scheduled for Monday and 18 for Tuesday, darkness halted the second round, making it a 45-hole tournament. The Saints finished in seventh place with a score of +52 (303-157-316).
The 12-team field consisted of mostly NCAA Division III schools, including three ranked in the top 50.
After 27 holes on the Canyon Course on Monday, the Saints sat in a tie for fifth place as they shot 15-over in the first round and nine-over in the second round. All five OLLU golfers carded sub-80 scores in the opening round led by Oliver Gaisford and Alex Marshall who each turned in a three-over 75. Marshall recorded 11 pars and two birdies in his first 18 holes while Gaisford finished the round with nine pars and three birdies.
John Martinez finished with a 76 while Niall Langley-Brook carded a 77. Victor Pena-Cortes shot 79 with three birdies and an eagle in the round.
In the nine-hole second round, Martinez and Gaisford each shot one-over 37. Martinez finished with eight pars while Gaisford recorded seven pars and a birdie in the round. Pena-Cortes shot 39 while Langley-Brook finished with a four-over 40. Marshall had two birdies in the round but finished five-over.
The final round on the Oaks course was a tough one for the entire field. Martinez led the Saints, shooting 77 while Langley-Brook fired a 79. Gaisford and Pena-Cortes each carded 80 while Marshall shot 84.
The Saints will head to Victoria, Texas on Sunday to participate in the Claude Jacobs Invitational at Victoria Country Club. First round action will begin on Monday, February 24.
