
Saints Men's Soccer Falls To LSU-Alexandria
SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 29, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team fell to LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) 4-0 in a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) matchup.
The Saints drop to 0-7-1 overall and 0-3 in the conference, while the Generals improve 3-4-1 and 2-1 in conference.
History
The Saints are 2-7-4 against the Generals. The Saints lost to them in 2021 1-3 and tied 0-0 the previous three years.
Basics
The Saints had trouble gaining momentum at the start of the game, while the Generals dominated the offense. After a little more than 13 minutes into the first half, OLLU's Michael Huff was show a yellow card for rough play. The Generals continued to take chances getting the ball into the net and they succeeded at the 32nd minute on a goal from Sithabiso Madonsela. The goal was off a cross pass from Daniel Torrenegra. At the 38th minute, Cade Ryan took the Saints' first shot, and it went wide.
The Generals continued to dominate in the second period. Benjamin Rios had a shot on goal at the 58th minute. LSUA followed with several chances finally able to find the net at the 63rd minute on a goal from Enrique Ruiz Diaz from the front of the net. With less than eight minutes remaining in the match, LSUA's Danny Stevens made back-to-back goals to give the Generals the 4-0 win.
