Saints Men Overpower Texas College 4-0

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 13, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer team shutout Texas College 4-0 in a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) matchup. The victory is the Saint' first this season and moves them to 1-8-3 overall and 1-4-2 in the RRAC.

Texas College drops to 1-9-2 overall and 0-5 in conference. The Steers sit at the bottom of the conference standings, while the Saints are in 11th place.

Basics

The Saints battled the Steers from the start and traded sides of the field evenly throughout the match. The Saints, however, were able to take more shots and had more chances to score.

Kevin Rios got the scoring started at the 24th minutes on a shot off a penalty kick.

The first yellow card was shown at the 36th minute against Karson Webb for rough play. Both teams continued to compete, and an abundant of offside calls were assessed by the officials, thus calling back several goals. After a yellow on Texas College's Fernando Cervantes at the 44th minute, the half ended with the Saints leading 1-0.

A yellow card was given to Abraham Lincon at the 49th minutes, and the opponent's Officier Ramadhani received one at the 56th minute for tripping. A few second later, Stephen Volpe scored a goal on assist from Javier Pena.

The Steers were shown a yellow at the 66th minute for rough play by Emmanuel Rafiki.

The Saints scored back-to-back goals beginning at the 72nd minute. Benjamin Rios kicked the ball over the keepers head after a pass from Miguel Barrera. A minute later, Diego Rodriguez scored on a pass from Benjamin Rios to give the Saints the 4-0 win.
