SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 2, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's soccer squad marked a big win over Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) 5-1 on Saturday to qualify for the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament. The Saints finish the regular season at 6-11-1 overall and 5-7-1 in conference. The Rams ended the season at 4-9-2 overall and 2-9-1 in the RRAC.

The Saints honored Alejandro Avila, Carlos Alvarez, Tim Talabi, Adrian Maldonado and Sagesse Gutsa as part of Seniors' Day.

The Saints were 9-9-2 against the Rams prior to the game.

OLLU's offense earned a penalty kick seven minutes into the game. Thiago Fernandes put the Saints up 1-0 and the offensive pressure forced an own goal by the Rams at the 22nd minute. The Saints went to the break with a 2-0 advantage and had 16 shots. They limited the Rams to five shots and three corner kicks. There was one yellow card show in the first half to the Rams. Dominic Pena made four saves in the frame. 

Fernandes and Nicolas Murgas scored back-to-back goals in the second half that were three minutes apart. Fernandes' goal was assisted by Talabi and Alessandro Sierra assisted on Murgas' strike. Alvarez scored the Saints second penalty kick of the game at the 75th minute to grow the lead to 5-0. The Rams scored their lone goal at the 78th minute. Alejandro Avila took over in net in the second half and allowed one goal with one save. Maldonado and Cristian Govea Mireles led the Saints with four shots apiece.
