Bio

JESUS CORTES joined the Saints coaching staff in July 2023. 

Cortes arrives at OLLU with an array of experience in the soccer world.  He graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in 2013 after earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business. Cortes received a full soccer scholarship from UIW and was named Freshman of the Year in 2008. He also earned First Team All-Conference honors all four seasons. Cortes returned in 2020 for a Master of Science in Sports Management while also coaching as a graduate assistant at the university. After receiving his master's degee, Cortes continued his playing career with the Austin Aztex in the United Soccer League, which is the second tier of the United States soccer pyramid.

While coaching as the graduate assistant at UIW from 2018-2020, Cortes also coached as an assistant at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio. He set up daily training, received player feedback, managed equipment and traveled with the boy's team. During his tenure, the squad won the state championship twice. He had a similar role at Antonian High School in 2017 and simultaneously worked as the technical director for the San Antonio Forza Academy. Cortes' first full-time job was head coach at St. Luke's Middle School in 2016, where he led the team to three semifinals and one city championship over four years.
