Saints Fall Short in 4-3 loss to Xavier in Tournament Championship
NEW ORLEANS (April 22, 2023) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's tennis team battled but lost a 4-3 match to Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) in the championship of the NAIA Unaffiliated Group Tournament. The Saints finish the 2023 spring season with a 14-13 record. Full results from Saturday are listed below.
Head Coach Dave Watts commented, "I couldn't be more proud of our team. The culture that we have been building throughout the year came to fruition today. Every player brought everything they had. The three players who didn't play brought an unmatched energy that we needed to make it as close as we did. Xavier is a top team in the nation, and we were right there with them. We came up a bit short today, but that's sports. We made huge progress from the beginning of the season to now. This loss will only add fuel to our fire for next year. Let's go Saints!"
