Men's Tennis Drops Close Match Versus UTPB
SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 11, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's tennis team lost to the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) 3-4 on Saturday. The Saints drop to 2-3 overall while the UTPB Falcons improve to 4-0.
Head Coach Dave Watts commented, "Tonight was such a fun and exciting match. UTPB brought a ton of energy into the doubles and took the point. We rallied back in the singles with Jaroslav Majsajdr being the first off the court with a win at line three. Luis Hernandez won his match at line five, as well. We had some tough losses at lines six and four. Being down 2-3, it came down to lines one and two. Kyllian Savary pulled through in a long three set battle, however their line two was just too tough and got the win over David Ekpenyong. I thought David did a fantastic job for being his first college tennis match. Once he gets used to the atmosphere, and gets a few matches under his belt, I see big things coming from him. Credit to UTPB; they brought great energy and really earned this one."
