Four From Tennis Earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards
KANAS CITY, MO. (May 13, 2024) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2024 Daktronics NAIA Women's and Men's Tennis Scholar-Athletes. Four from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) earned this honor.
The 2024 list features 247 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
Senior Malachi Farley, a Chemical Biology major, has been part of the team since 2020. He played in 43 singles matches and 55 doubles matches during his Saints career. He earned a 3.75 GPA.
Senior Guido Picasso, a Kinesiology major, has been part of the team since 2023. He played in 39 singles matches and 39 doubles matches throughout his OLLU career. He earned a 4.00 GPA.
Senior Saskia Vogelzang, an Economics major, has been part of the team since 2021. She played in 35 singles matches and 39 doubles matches as a Saint. She earned a 3.83 GPA.
Junior Lucia Popluharova, an Economics major, has been part of the team since 2022. She has played in 25 singles matches and 26 doubles matches. She earned a 3.88 GPA.
