Men's Relay Team Makes Finals, Day Two Overview for NAIA Indoor Championships
BROOKINGS, S.D. (March 1, 2024) – In the first day of the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's 4x400m relay team won its preliminary heat yesterday earning a Big Q into the finals.
Julian Verastegui, Jalen Bell, Richard Davis and Cerrone Thompson ran the race in an OLLU record time of 3:14.54. The team defeated the defending NAIA Indoor National Champions Southeastern University for fourth place overall. The team will run the finals on March 2 at 5:15 p.m.
Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, "The men's 4x400m relay team showed a level of experience and poise in the first round that makes me believe we are in the fight for a national championship."
Overview of Day One
The men's Distance Medley Relay team ran their race yesterday and placed sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 10:05.88. The team consisted of JoseCarlos Hernandez, Ethan Navarro, Joseph Gonzalez and Anthony Perez.
The women's 4x400m Relay team also ran their race yesterday and placed 19th in the preliminaries with a time of 4:02.11. The team consisted of Morghan Neeley, Autumn Roberts, Aziza Clark and Alexandria Segura.
Running races today for the Saints are Hendrick Ramirez (Mile/12:20 p.m.), Cerrone Thompson (400m/1:25 p.m.), Jalen Bell (200m / 5 p.m.) and Aziza Clark (60mH/12:35 p.m.). De'Jon Lewis will participate in the triple jump on March 2 at 1:30 p.m.
