OLLU's Hendrick Ramirez Qualifies for Finals at NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships
BROOKINGS, S.D. (March 1, 2024) – In the second day of the NAIA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships, Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) Hendrick Ramirez placed third in his One Mile preliminary heat earlier today to earn a Big Q into the finals.
Ramirez finished sixth overall with a time of 4:20.02. He will run in the finals on Saturday at 12:35 p.m.
Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, " Hendrick survived an extremely tactical race and stayed within striking distance of the top ranked guy in the field. His chances of a podium finish are a lot stronger now with that race under his belt."
Overview of Day Two
Aziza Clark participated in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles and marked a time of 9.16.
Cerrone Thompson ran the 400m preliminaries with a time of 49.48. Jalen Bell ran the 200m preliminaries with a time of 21.93.
What's next
Scheduled for Saturday is Hendrick Ramirez in the One Mile finals at 12:35 p.m., De'Jon Lewis in the triple jump (preliminaries/finals) at 1:30 p.m. and the men's 4x400m relay finals at 5:15 p.m. The team consists of Julian Verastegui, Jalen Bell, Richard Davis and Cerrone Thompson.
