Five From OLLU Receive NAIA Indoor All-America Honors
NEW ORLEANS (March 4, 2024) – All-America honors for the 2024 NAIA Indoor Track and Field season were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Five from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) have been selected – the first time in OLLU history for the indoor team to earn this distinction.
Student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-America honors by finishing among the top-8 in their events – including as a member of a relay – at the 2024 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which took place this past weekend in Brookings, S.D.
Hendrick Ramirez has been named an NAIA All-American. He qualified for the finals after finishing sixth in the One Mile preliminaries. In the finals, Ramirez placed fifth overall with a time of 4:09.97 – an OLLU Indoor all-time record.
The Saints 4x400m relay team consisting of Julian Verastegui, Jalen Bell, Richard Davis and Cerrone Thompson are NAIA All-Americans. The team qualified for the finals after finishing fourth in the preliminaries. In the finals, the team placed seventh with a time of 3:16.05 – an OLLU Indoor all-time record.
Davis, Thompson and Verastegui were named NAIA All-Americans in May 2023 for their performance in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. They, along with Troy Stinson, finished fifth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:12.55 – an OLLU Outdoor all-time record.
