Men's Cross-Country Wins Concordia Classic
PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS (Sept. 24, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's cross-country team won its first meet since 2019 last night at the Concordia Classic sponsored by Concordia University Texas. The win comes after the announcement earlier this week that the Saints had received votes in the NAIA Men's Cross-Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll – the first time since 2016.
Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, "It was fantastic to get a win, the first outright win outside of conference we've had in a long time. Everyone executed. Even though Jose Zarate ran faster and had an awesome race, our 'Runner of the Race' goes to Diego Moran for stepping up huge into the second slot. One more race and hopefully we cam earn that top 25 ranking."
The Saints won two other meets since beginning competition in 2009. In 2016, the Saints won the UIW Invitational out of six teams, and in 2019, they won the OLLU Collegiate Invite out of five teams.
