OLLU Men's Cross-Country Competes in Texas A&M University Meet

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 15, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's cross-country team participated in the Texas A&M University Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday. The team finished in 31st place out of 40 teams in the 8K.

The event featured mostly NCAA D1 schools, The only other NAIA school participating was Texas A&M University-Texarkana, which placed 36th.

Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, "Nate and Jose ran really well on a big stage. If we can get three guys to step up around them, we can put together a special team performance."

Jose Zarate had the best finish for the Saints with a time of 25:16.9 for 98th place out of 360 runners. Nathaniel Rodriguez finished with a time of 25:50.7, followed by Jayden Turrubiates with a time of 26:27, Hendrick Ramirez with a time of 26:33.9, Sebastian Moreno with a time of 27:34, Diego Moran with a time of 28:24.2 and JoseCarlos Hernandez with a time of 28:27.

The Saints will host and prepare for the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Nov. 4 at Culebra Creek Soccer Fields in San Antonio.
