OLLU Will Host 2022 Red River Athletic Conference Cross-Country Championships

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 1, 2022) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) cross-country teams will host the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Culebra Creek Park located at 10919 Westwood Loop in San Antonio.

The men's teams will run the 8k first beginning at 8 a.m. The women will follow at 8:45 a.m. for the 5k.

After the meet, OLLU will present awards to the team champions and runners-up and the All-RRAC Runners, which is comprised of the top 10 finishers. Also awarded will be the Runners of the Year (individual winners), Freshmen of the Year (highest freshmen individual finisher) and Coaches of the Year (winning coaches) plaques.

The women's team first won the conference meet in 2013 and repeated in 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2018, the University of the Southwest captured the women's title, with the Saints as runners-up. The Saints returned in 2019 to win and proceeded to capture the title in 2020 and 2021.

Top 10 2021 Saints finishers Nadia Sifuentes, the Top Medalist, and Jasmine Hernandez, the runner up, qualified as individuals for the NAIA National Meet. Joining Sifuentes and Hernandez on the All-Conference team from 2021 were returners Lindsey Broussard, Sierra Ramirez and Viridiana Zuniga.

Running this year for the Saints are Lindsey Broussard, Mia Curiel, Robbie Sue Espericueta, Lilianna Hernandez, Deandra Ibarra, Leilani Leza, Sierra Ramirez, Nadia Sifuentes, Kennedy Villalpando and Viridiana Zuniga.

On the men's side, the Saints have won the last seven titles dating back to 2015. Jose Zarate is vying for his third Individual Medalist Award after winning in 2020 and 2021. The team qualified for the NAIA National Meet. Other returning All-Conference winners from 2021 include JoseCarlos Hernandez, Diego Moran, Hector Puente, Hendrick Ramirez and Nathaniel Rodriguez – the 2019 Individual Medalist.

Running this year for the men are JoseCarlos Hernandez, Kruz Malesich, Diego Moran, Sebastian Moreno, Hendrick Ramirez, Robert Rios, Nathaniel Rodriguez, Jose Saucedo, Jayden Turribates and Jose Zarate.

Teams participating include Huston-Tillotson University, Jarvis Christian University, OLLU, Texas College, Texas A&M University - Texarkana, the University of the Southwest and Xavier University of Louisiana.
