OLLU's Malesich and Zarate Selected to USTFCCCA NAIA Cross-Country All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS (Jan. 28, 2023) – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's cross-country's Kruz Malesich and Jose Zarate have been selected to the 2022 NAIA Cross Country All-Academic Team as announced this week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Zarate, who was the runner up in the conference meet, marked a 3.45 GPA. Malesich finished in sixth place at the conference meet. He marked a 3.25 GPA.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.33 on a 4.0 scale and qualify for the national championship meet.
