Saints Men Open 2023 Season at UIW Twilight
SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 2, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University men's cross-country team opened its 2023 season at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) XC Twilight on Friday evening. The Saints placed sixth out of five NCAA D1 schools and one D3 school. UIW came in first with 15 points, followed by Texas State University with 67 points, Baylor University with 78 points, Trinity University (D3) with 83 points, University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley with 151 points and OLLU with 153 points.
Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, "We had a bad day but we learned plenty about our young guys. We have two weeks to make some adjustments. I plan to take full advantage."
Vincent Garza had the best finish in the 6k for the Saints with a time of 19:22 for 24th place out of 87 runners. Kruz Malesich had a time of 19:34. Hector Puente marked a 19:37 finish, while Tony Favella had a time of 19:39, Jose Saucedo with a 19:48, Sebastian Moreno and JoseCarlos Hernandez with a 19:54.
