Saints Plate 27 Runs in Two Wins Over Texas College

TYLER, TEXAS (April 1, 2023) – The No. 2-ranked Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) softball team raced past Texas College (TC) in a pair of games on Saturday. The Saints are now 30-4 overall and undefeated in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) at 16-0. Texas College falls to 10-11 overall and 0-8 in RRAC play. The Saints have won 21 straight games.

Head Coach Bruce Lenington commented, "Today we had a chance to see a lot of our players get some quality playing time and rest some starters. I was pleased with the outcome and will look to build on this tomorrow."

History

The Saints were 32-3 against the Steers prior to the games.

Game one

The Saints totaled 14 hits for 11 runs in game one. Madison Nunn, Cassandra Valdez, Joanna Gonzalez and Kayla Dreese all had a multi-hit game. Nunn, Valdez and Ariel Montgomery smacked home runs, with Montgomery's being a grand slam. Valdez started in the circle and went four innings with one earned run and six strikeouts. Marissa Bradley pitched the final frame in what ended up being a run-rule 11-1 victory in five innings.

Game two

The Saints' offense continued to impress in the second game. They totaled 15 singles and scored 16 runs. OLLU also played a solid defensive contest with no errors. Madison Garza, Nunn and Dreese had multiple RBIs. Garza finished with three hits and three runs scored. Angela Ramirez pitched a complete game with three strikeouts. Ramirez moves to a perfect 12-0 on the season while in the circle. OLLU won 16-2 to continue their undefeated campaign in RRAC competition.
