SAN ANTONIO (May 4, 2023) – The NAIA No. 2-ranked Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) softball team raced past Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) 13-0 on the first day of the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships. The Saints are hosting the tournament and are the No. 1 seed. The Gold Nuggets received the No. 8 seed and drop to the consolation bracket with the loss.

The Saints were 4-0 against the Gold Nuggets prior to the game.
Basics
The Saints' offense exploded for 13 runs on 11 hits in a victory against XULA on Thursday in their first game of the RRAC Championships. Cassandra Valdez started in the circle and picked up her 21st win of the year after going three innings with five strikeouts. Valdez didn't allow a hit and went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs. Angela Ramirez pitched in relief and allowed two hits in two innings. Ariel Montgomery also had a multi-hit game and eight Saints totaled at least one hit. Madison Garza, Rebecca Duran, Montgomery and Kristee Salas all tallied doubles. Duran had two RBIs on top of Montgomery's three. The Saints scored in every inning and finished with a 13-0 win in a run-rule five inning game.
