OLLU's Valdez Wins Eighth Pitcher of the Week Award
WACO, TEXAS (April 22, 2024) – Cassandra Valdez of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) captured the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week award for April 15-21 This is the 12th set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC softball season.
This is Valdez's eighth Pitcher of the Week award this season.
Valdez earned both wins in the Saints' sweep of crosstown rival Texas A&M University-San Antonio. The graduate righthander from Brownsville, Texas, appeared for four innings in the opener and struck out seven in an 11-0 victory. Valdez also entered in relief in the second game to throw 1 2/3 hitless innings to complete the sweep. She continues to lead the RRAC with a 0.40 ERA, 20 wins and 199 strikeouts. The NAIA's top-ranked team, OLLU won the RRAC regular season championship at 22-0 with a 45-1 overall record this season.
