Softball Drops Close Game Against LSU-Alexandria at RRAC Championship Tournament

LECOMPTE, LA. (May 5, 2024) – The No. 1-ranked Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) softball team fell to LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) 3-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championship Tournament semifinals. The Saints are the No. 1 seed while the Generals are the No. 2 seed. The Saints 45-game winning streak was snapped with the loss.

Head Coach Bruce Lenington commented, "What I haven't been able to teach our team is how to bounce back after a loss. Only losing can provide that opportunity and I'm excited to see how our team responds."

The Saints were 10-23 against the Generals prior to the game.

The Saints took an early lead in the first inning. Madison Garza hit a deep single to right field that scored Cassandra Valdez from first base. The Generals went up 2-1 in the top of the third inning with a two-run home run. They added another run in the fifth inning on an RBI ground out. The Saints were unable to score in the final two innings and lost 3-1. Valdez lost her first game in the circle this season after 5.1 innings with three earned runs. Ava Hernandez pitched the final 1.2 innings and didn't allow a run. The Saints were limited to two hits while the Generals totaled 12.
